Size & Measurement Guide

Finding the perfect fit is crucial for the structured silhouettes of Gothic or Lolita fashion. Since we source from various international designers and private archives, sizes may vary significantly. Please follow this guide to ensure your chosen piece fits like a dream.

1. Key Measurement Tips

  • Measure over undergarments: For the most accurate results, measure yourself while wearing the undergarments you plan to wear with the outfit.

  • Keep the tape level: Ensure the measuring tape is parallel to the floor and snug against your body, but not pulled tight.

  • The “Plus 2-3cm” Rule: Because Gothic and Lolita fabrics are often non-stretch, we recommend choosing a size where your body measurements are 2–3 cm smaller than the garment’s measurements to allow for comfortable movement.

2. Special Notice: The Archive (Thrifted Items)

Unlike pre-order items that follow a brand’s standard size chart, every piece in The Archive is unique.

  • Actual Product Measurements: All dimensions provided for Archive items are the actual measurements of the garment itself, not body measurements.

  • Hand-Measured by Angel Lust: Each item is carefully hand-measured on a flat surface by our team to ensure the highest precision.

  • Final Sale Reminder: Since all Archive sales are final, please cross-check your body measurements with the provided product dimensions before checkout.

  • Margin of Error: Please allow a 1–2 cm variance due to manual measurement on different vintage fabric textures.

3. How to Measure Your Body

  • Bust: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest.

  • Waist: Measure around your natural waistline—the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button.

  • Shoulder Width: Measure from the outer edge of one shoulder bone across your back to the other.

  • Upper Arm Girth: Measure the widest part of your bicep (critical for slim-sleeved Gothic coats).

  • Total Length: Measure from the highest point of your shoulder down to the hem (for OP/JSK) or from your waist down (for SK).

4. Understanding Common Terms

  • OP (One-Piece): A full dress with sleeves.

  • JSK (Jumper Skirt): A sleeveless dress intended to be worn over a blouse.

  • Shirring: If a garment features elastic “shirring,” the size chart will show a range (e.g., Bust: 80–95 cm), indicating it can stretch to accommodate those sizes.

5. Size Conversion Disclaimer

  • Standard Variance: Please allow a 1–3 cm margin of error for new pre-order items due to manual manufacturing processes.

  • Asian Sizing: Asian sizes (S, M, L) often run smaller than Western sizes. Always rely on centimeters (cm) rather than size labels.

  • Monitor Variance: Slight color variations may occur due to photographic lighting or monitor settings.
